Requirements for members
As a member you will be required to serve 30 hours of community service and 15 hours of tutoring each academic year. These hours are beyond the graduation requirements of the NFHS. You are also required to maintain coursework above a B- in each of your academic courses. Report cards will be reviewed each quarter and a meeting will be required if you receive a grade of B- or lower. Students will then be placed on academic probation.
We also sponsor two American Red Cross Blood Drives at the high school and each member is required to help with the set up and the implementation of the blood drive and each member is asked to find two donors. The American Red Cross depends upon our voluntary work in order to maintain a healthy blood supply.
Twice during the academic year (December and April) you will be required to email your community service hours and your tutoring hours to the NHS Officer in charge of community service. Those students who do not show progress will be required to meet with Mrs. Gephart and may be placed on probation. For seniors, all community service hours/tutoring hours MUST be completed prior to SEE. The email address for sending volunteer hours is: [email protected]
